During my field work observation I have come to realize that I really do want to be a teacher. I really want to be able to make a difference in each child's life. I want to help each child know that they can be what ever and who ever they want. All they really need to do is go for something that they are interested in. something that they will enjoy.
While watching the teacher I was with I learned that being a teacher is not only just teaching but also being a friend, mentor, encourage, coach. You really have to fall in love with each of your students. Each student is special in his or her own way.
I also learned that there is no one way to teach. You have to be able to adjust your teaching for every second. for every child. In order to be a successful teacher you need to make sure each child is successful in learning your material. We all learn in different ways, why should we teach in just one way?
I have really come to love each student that I work with. I want them to be successful. I want them to reach their highest goals and reach their potential. I can't wait to be a teacher!

Post 7

Over the course of these few weeks of being in the class room I have seen a huge change in how the students respect their teacher and how they react to the classroom management.  The teacher has changed the rules a lot for the class but she does keep it every month and than if that's not working she will try something new.

Class room rules have changed a lot, which I feel is hard for the students to really stay with the class room rules. I have really seen their struggle with keeping up with the rules and know when and what is acceptable and not. It's just really hard for them.

One thing that I do like is that she has this system where they will love second of their recess and that really helps them stay on task. She also has a "special plan" where if the student continues the bad behavior they have to owe her a recess and if it keeps going on they contact their parents. I haven't seen a student who will continue their bad behavior after their parents are contacted.

Blog entry 6

I have really noticed more of how the  teacher interacts with her students. It's really made a change to the way the students interact with each other. They really want to help each other learn more. We had few problems in the beginning of the year because it was always about me my self and i . but now each students really wants to make sure that every one is involved with the learning. I see them really talk to each other and really help. It's great.
I really hope that I can really have students involvement with my class. I want to make sure that each students know how important each other is to every one's learning. It really makes a difference!

Entry 5

I would have to say the most important role a teacher can play is being mentor. It's hard to balance the friendship but also the respect the student need to have for their teacher in one. I think the mentor is the one that can complement them the most.  The student really needs a mentor. The class I am in the teacher really wants them to succeed and she really tries to show them that. I think it's great!
The hardest part I would say is being a friend. You want your students to know you love them and are their friend but they also need to know they need to respect their teacher. I can see the struggle Mrs. Wilson has. She loves each of her students very much but she also needs and wants their respect. That's hard to really have them understand. You want them to have fun but also learn.
I want to be able to balance everything. I know it's going to be hard and really difficult to balance being a friend and disciplinary figure. Teaching I know is hard. But I am so excited to be a teacher!

In the classroom I am in we have a lot of students who are a level or two below the rest of their class mates. It's hard for them because they see their friends excelling and they are stuck. One thing the teacher has done is she really focuses on clearly explaining every lesson. She makes it fun by doing group activities or she brings out blocks they can use to help them. One thing she has done for those students with ADHD is she makes her lessons simply and fun. she uses things that they know or they recognize. Like Mickey Mouse. she used a mickey mouse face and colors how many ways there were to make ten. I thought that was really cool and fun.

Every student there is under the IDEA. it's public school so they have free education. and the environment is an non restrictive place to learn. The teacher really makes sure she uplifts her students and does not restrict them from learning. she wants to make sure that the students understand and if they don't she will keep reviewing and teaching until they do understand. I really like that about her.

For those students who are English learners she really is trying  to use all three learning Technics with them. She has a dictionary for each student so they can write down the words they don't know how to write and ask how to spell. Its awesome.

I have always read and heard about the Brown vs. Board of Education case. I read it in school, did reports on it, but I never really saw the impact it had on the educational system we have today. Well I did but I never really understood.
Now that I want to be a teacher I can more fully see and understand how big of an impact the case has had. I look around to the students in my 2nd grade class I volunteer in and I see so many divers students. What if we still were segregated? the students who I know and love would not get as good of an education as any other student. That makes me sad. Each child should get the opportunity for a good education.
How boring would it be if we didn't have such a diverse scene in our schools?  There are so many fun opportunities to learn about different cultures and backgrounds. Things that I would never have known if the schools were still segregated. This week we had a multicultural week . Every students wore something from their family or cultural. IT WAS SO COOL!  I had a blast seeing so many students representing who they are. I loved it.
I just can't even imagine a school system that is not the way we have it now. I am so grateful for what we have now.

Blog entry 1

I have had the great opportunity to go work at my old elementary school. It's been so much fun working with my old teachers and being able to watch them teach. I have had a few interesting experiences while being in the class room and seeing the class room from a different perpective.
One of the  question that was asked for this blog post was "What developmental differences do you see in the children in the classroom?" I can now see even more how the cookie cutter plan of some schools and how they teach does not work for all students. One girl in my 2nd grade class comes to mind when I think of developmental differences. I wont use her name but she is the bottom of the class. She has not really learned her alphabet or how to write it. and she also has a hard time reading. This makes it hard for her to stay focused in class because she has the self perspective of " oh I can't do this" so she doesn't work. The teacher than gets frustrated becsue she distracts the other students and wont let them work. One thing I have also noticed is that the teacher has her do the same things another way. a way that she will understand it more. She is a more visual learner, she dosen't do well when it comes to lectures. I hope that when I become a teacher I can teach a students to the best of their ability. I want to be able  to show them that it's okay to learn in different ways. This girl has gotten better at understanding that it's okay to be different and learn differently, it's gotten better. but there is still  of work to do.
It;s a hard thing, being a teacher, but I am so grateful for all the teachers I have had. I am so glad for all the lessons they have taught me. I can never thank them enough!
